Haira Arby

Haira Arby has been called the nightingale of the North, and although she has never had an international release, she is unquestionably the reigning queen of song in Timbuktu, Mali. She sings about the traditional ways of the Songhai and Tuareg people, but also about contemporary issues, like democracy and development.
